‘Pastime’ was the 3rd of the Enniskillen Yacht Club’s Fairies, skipping the sail No.3 in favour of 4. This process was in keeping with the RNIYCs ‘Sheevra’ as the number 3 was often believed to be confused with 8. She was built in 1906 and delivered in the same year. Pastime has problay been the most successful of the EYCs fleet, often winning multiple seasons successively under the ownership of the Irvine family. Pastime is currently under a state of repair and restoration, having not sailed for well over a decade. The name ‘Pastime’ is a curious one for a Fairy, given that it has no direct relation to a mythical, literary or elemental idea. Pastime was gathered up along with the rest of the Fairies by the Cooper family and formed the basis of the reformed Lough Erne Yacht Club from the 1940s onwards.
