‘Storm’ was the 1st of the Fairy fleet commissioned for the Enniskillen Yacht Club (EYC) in 1906. She has retained her original name and sail No.1, ever since. Storm has been one of the most successful of all the EYC Fairies and has consistently answered the gun for her 114 year life. For many years the boat was owned by the Irvine family, a large and dispersed family who arrived in Ulster during the plantation. Like many prominent Anglo-Irish landed families they had multiple branches, one of them giving their name to the town of ‘Irvinestown’ co. Fermanagh. She received an extensive restoration in the 2000s and remained as one of the few Fairies to sail during the lull that the LEYC has experienced over the last 20 years. From 2006 onwards, ‘Storm’ and her sister ‘Maeve’ were often the only two boats that sailed as the rest of the fleet was in a state of disrepair or under restoration.
