The fifth Fairy overall, Titania was built in 1902, allocated sail No. 6 and launched the same year. She was named in honour of William Shakespeare’s character ‘Titania,’ the Queen of the Fairies from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ She sailed from Cultra with the rest of her sisters over a very active career for 81 years, before being sadly lost in a heavy gale in 1983. Her keel was the only thing to survive her destruction along the shore.
